Bro. W.E. "Buddy" Ables - a 73 year-old native of Meridian, MS and longtime resident of Chickasaw passed away at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was the longtime owner and operator of A&A Wholesalers in Saraland. A retired ordained minister, Bro. Buddy was a former pastor at Grace Missionary Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church and was still active in several outreach ministries in the area. Bro. W.E. "Buddy" Ables - a 73 year-old native of Meridian, MS and longtime resident of Chickasaw passed away at his home on Saturday, May 13, 2017. He was the longtime owner and operator of A&A Wholesalers in Saraland. A retired ordained minister, Bro. Buddy was a former pastor at Grace Missionary Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church and was still active in several outreach ministries in the area. He loved working with children, especially as a softball and baseball coach, and was a past-president of the Chickasaw Dixie Youth Baseball League. Bro. Buddy was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Betty Jo Ables; children, Michelle Ables and Mike Ables (Hollie); and grandchildren, Katherine Bishop, Michael Ables, and Brooke Ables.
A memorial service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 4 p.m. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the service hour. Another memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Life Baptist Church in Meridien. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mitchell Cancer Institute, Office of MCI Development, 300 Alumni Cir., Mobile, AL 36688.
